lakshmi bib dress
soft and simple, yet showstopping, our lakshmi bib dress might be our favorite of the season. made of handloomed cotton by our partners, the kala swaraj foundation, in custom stripes and ginghams, and stitched by women's empowerment collective, the saheli women, who created kantha embroidery on each bib (which means each dress features unique thread details). we can't wait to host all of our summer soirées in this one.

the saheli women community center is a women-run enterprise employing 40+ female artisans in the village of bhikamkor, rajasthan. collaborating with a few small fashion brands provides these women with not only a happy work environment and fair wages, but skill development, health education, and insurance. under the umbrella of iphd india, the saheli enterprise also funds sponsorship for young girls to attend school, holds workshops on female hygiene and health, and runs the only female health clinic in the village. the saheli women have transformed the village of bhikamkor, and, with training and guidance, hope to eventually replicate this project in other villages across india. the word “saheli” in hindi means “female friend,” and these women create goods that are meant to be treasured, symbolic of the power of friendship, respect, gender equality, and fair wages.
